Attention Getters and Teaching Tools!
During
the Motivational Magic event, Rick employs numerous theatrical magic effects to
serve both as an attention getter to keep the audience on the edge of
their seats, as well as a teaching tool to highlight the message for
each learning concept. This is how your program serves your audience to
be both educational and fun at the same time. The magic varies from hilarious comedy that will
have the room roaring with laughter, to utter amazement where your
audience will be talking about it for weeks trying to figure out how in
the world the magic effects could have been done.
True
Stories of Overcoming Unbelievable Setbacks!
In
addition to the teaching segments and the theatrical stage illusions,
Rick is a professional storyteller very skilled in drawing in your
audience and keeping them on their edge of their seats with suspense and
anticipation. Rick shares numerous real life stories of overcoming setbacks and
insurmountable obstacles. These incredible true stories serve as the
backbone for Rick's recipe in teaching others "The Secrets For
Accomplishing the Impossible". Some of Rick's amazing life stories
are under the category of "warm and fuzzy", while others are under the
category of "gritty and shocking". These are carefully weaved
together to create a roller coaster ride of excitement and intrigue. All of these true
high impact stories are geared towards inspiring your audience to get themselves
energized and inspired to go out into the world and tackle those worthy
goals that might seem too far out of reach or even nearly impossible. Here are a few quick examples.
Incident 1: Skydiving Malfunction at 2500 feet dropping 120 mph
Topic: Keeping Cool Under High Stress
in Business and in Life
Rick is a
licensed skydiver with over 180 parachute jumps. While skydiving one
beautiful Saturday afternoon, Rick was jumping from 13,000 feet with a
cameraman who was videotaping the jump. At 2500 feet, Rick began
experiencing a problem and was unable to stabilize and pull his
parachute open. Dropping at the rate of one thousand feet every six
seconds does not leave much of a margin for error, wouldn't you agree?
Rick tried to stabilize but the spinning kept going faster and faster.
Rick had to weigh out his options in a microsecond, and pulled the
parachute at 900 feet above the ground. The main canopy opened, but the
reserve parachute opened as well. Rick was now in the predicament
of trying to land with two open parachutes, and the wrong decision could
easily result in a very severe injury.
Teaching Points: Rick summarizes this life lesson by emphasizing
the need to become a person who remains calm under stress, and the need
to learn how to be decisive and make a decision to move forward. It is
inevitable that your team will face a crisis sooner or later. When that
day comes upon you, people will be watching you closely to see how you
respond to high pressure. Will you fall apart and become frazzled? Or
will you rise up to the challenge and perform like a true professional?
The individual who masters the art of remaining cool and collected under
high pressure circumstances is the one who will quickly rise in the
ranks and gain the respect of people above them, as well as people that
are subordinates. Rick says, "There is always opportunity in chaos."
View such situations as your opportunity to shine and showcase all of
your strengths.
Incident 2: Eight Broken Bones And Dropped From Nursing School, then
Later Graduated Second in the Class
Topic: Constantly Nurturing Mental
Fortitude and Being a Bounce Back Person in Business and in Life
Here's
another quick example. While a
student in Penn State's Licensed Practical Nursing program, Rick was
driving to class one afternoon on a rainy day and suffered a severe head-on car wreck
that crushed his car and resulted in eight broken bones, to include 3 severed metatarsals.
After learning of his severe injuries, the director of the nursing program said it would be
absolutely impossible to
complete the nursing course, and he was dropped from the program. Not
once, but twice! Rick kept showing up to class in a wheel chair, and
kept being sent home. He was determined to be re-admitted to the program
at any cost. Rick's fellow students and instructors were impressed with his
determination, and eventually he was able to connect with someone in the
school administration that was willing to grant him conditional
re-admittance with countless hoops to jump through for several months.
You will be astounded at what they put him through.
Teaching Points: Rick summarizes this life lesson in a very
powerful way that illustrates to listeners the need to develop a crystal
clear vision of their future and of them achieving each one of their
goals. Rick provides several steps in how to do that. That crystal clear
vision is what propelled Rick to keep showing up at Penn State in a
wheel chair, even though they kept sending him back home. This story
motivates listeners to take their own setbacks by the horns and push
through to achieve success. Becoming a bounce back person means you are
someone who can take a few punches, pick yourself up, shake it off and
keep on going. That's what it takes to survive in today's marketplace.
Not only do you want to survive, but you want to thrive and rise above
all of the adversity and setbacks that surround you and continually come
your way.
Too much
adrenaline for your laid back audience? Okay, not a problem there
are more true life stories that drive home important life lessons.
Here's two more examples.
Incident 3: Failed Remedial Writing In College Two Times, Then Later
Wrote 8 Books and 60+ Training Courses
Topic: By Investing in Others, Our Greatest Weaknesses Can Become
Our Greatest Strengths in Business and in Life
When Rick
enrolled in Temple University in Philadelphia, he was required to take a
reading comprehension assessment and a writing skills assessment. He
passed the reading exam, but completely failed the writing skills test.
As a result, he was required to take a remedial writing class. He did,
but failed that. Took it again, and failed it a second time. Finally
barely passed it the third time. Later, Rick got involved with prison
volunteer work, teaching inmates how to read and how to write. The
illiteracy rate among prison inmates is astounding, and no doubt a prime
cause for turning away from legitimate employment and the high
recidivism rate among exoffenders. Within a few months, Rick discovered
that his ability to write had suddenly exploded. Writing became a joy
and an fulfilling vehicle for effective self-expression. Rick later went
on to write numerous technical training manuals and a few self published
books. He also got involved with many more service groups, such as
working with runaway teenagers, terminally ill patients, homeless
people, senior citizens, and more.
Teaching Points: Rick stumbled across a very powerful life
lesson. When we freely invest ourselves in helping others, life has a
way of reinvesting back into us as well. Being a source of encouragement
among your colleagues will prepare the way for your greatest weaknesses
to flip-flop and become your greatest strengths. If you want to see your gifts
and talents skyrocket, go out into the world and find worthy community
service organizations and volunteer a few hours each month helping
people that are more needy than you are. Doing this will absolutely
transform your life in ways you cannot imagine within just a few short
months. Absolutely, positively guaranteed!
Incident 4: Rescued Baby Deer Who Later Came Back to Greet Him
Topic: Your Customers and Your
Colleagues Know When You Sincerely and Genuinely Care About Them
Rick lives
in a heavily wooded area, where deer walk through the yard from time to
time. There are a few regulars who hang out on his property that Rick
has come to know, and even give them names. One day, he heard the sound
of wailing. He came outside and found a young baby deer stuck in the
thicket brush underneath of a tree. The mother was visibly upset, trying
to get her baby out but unable to do anything. Rick slowly approach the
two, reached under and pulled the baby out. The baby and mother lingered
for a few minutes and then both trotted off into the woods. Several
months later, a robust male deer with a nice set of antlers walked out
of the woods and approached Rick as he was working in the yard. This
buck walked fearlessly right up to Rick and allowed him to pet him on
the side of the face. This is absolutely unheard of, especially with a
male deer. After some thought, Rick guesses it may have been the baby
deer he rescued several months earlier. Perhaps he stopped by to say
hello and give his thanks.
Teaching Points:
Animals and people can sense a heart that is genuine, loving and caring.
Be true and sincere in all of your dealings with others. An honest
person can often sense when they are interacting with someone that is
not genuine. Always be true and be a person of personal integrity in all
of your dealings with other people. If you do so, life has a way of
ensuring you reap the rewards later on. When a crisis erupts, people
will gravitate towards the individual who they remember has always been
kind, sincere and genuine with them. They will stick by such a person
through thick and thin. This helps build your customer loyalty and
reduces client turnover.
These are
just a few true life examples, and Rick has many such stories of
overcoming obstacles to achieve what seems impossible. Other speakers
sometimes make up stories to share a point (which we refer to as
"speaker stories"), but every experience Rick shares is 100% true
without any exaggeration whatsoever.
What's In It For You and Your People?
So what
does all of this add up to for you and your organization? If you
are content with average, then you might find that any speaker out there might fit the
bill. But if you want your organization to strive for extraordinary,
then you need someone special and uniquely gifted of this caliber. When
you hire Rick Saldan's Motivational Magic, you are guaranteed
(literally! click

moving and inspiring. Your people will go home feeling energized and
ready to tackle any new goals, challenges and objectives that your group
wants to accomplish within the next 6 to 12 months. Your leaders will
most likely refer back to a few of Rick's stories several months from
now when your people run into a roadblock that seems too difficult to
overcome.
